Measuring principle
Coriolis mass flowmeter operating principle involves inducing a vibration of the flow tube through which the fluid passes. The vibration, though it is not completely circular, provides the rotating reference frame which gives rise to the Coriolis effect. While specific methods vary according to the design of the flow meter, sensors monitor and analyze changes in frequency, phase shift, and amplitude of the vibrating flow tubes. The changes observed represent the mass flow rate and density of the fluid.
Basing on the controlled generation of Coriolis forces. These forces are always present in a system when both translational and rotational movements are superimposed.
Application
HFM10 has a long-standing reputation as a highly accurate sensor. Immune to fluctuating and harsh environments, it is suited for the broadest range of applications. With its compact transmitter HFM10 offers high flexibility in terms of operation and system integration: access from one side, remote display and improved connectivity options. Heartbeat Technology enables measurement reliability and extension of recalibration cycles.
1) Density measurement
The measuring tube is continuously excited at its resonance frequency. A change in the mass and thus the density of the oscillating system (comprising measuring tube and fluid) results in a corresponding, automatic adjustment in the oscillation frequency. The resonance frequency is thus a function of the medium density. The microprocessor utilizes this relationship to obtain a density signal.
2) Volume measurement
Together with the measured mass flow, this is used to calculate the volume flow.
3) Temperature measurement
The temperature of the measuring tube is determined in order to calculate the compensation factor due to temperature effects.
